Megan Porter has a background as a research dietitian, weight loss instructor and diabetes educator. In addition, she enjoys educating adults and children about the benefits of healthful nutrition through her freelance writing and presentations in school classrooms and offices. Her writing has appeared on the WebMD and Calories Per Hour websites, in magazines like Active NW and Fitness Plus, and in various newspapers. She is actively involved in nutrition policy, working with the Portland Public Schools as a wellness advisory committee member to increase the nutrition and activity of Portland’s children.
Megan received a B.S. in psychology from the University of Oregon, and then attended Oregon State University to receive her post-bachelorette in food management and nutrition. She attended the Mid-Willamette Valley dietetic internship before receiving her accreditation as a registered dietitian. Megan resides in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and two children. She is currently working towards becoming a certified diabetes educator. She enjoys her free time playing with her family, cycling and other outdoor activities.
