Body Building Diet
The Bodybuilding Diet is designed to build muscle while eliminating fat. It places a lot of emphasis on high protein foods and complex carbs. People are expected to have a workout routine while on this diet as well, so that they can burn the massive amount of calories this diet allows.
The Body Building Diet and Exercise Routine
An example of a day on this diet starts off with about 45 minutes of cardio. For breakfast, you would have oatmeal, an egg white omelet, and some whey protein. Three hours later, you would eat a chicken breast with a tablespoon of flax oil. The next two meals involve more whey protein, some fruit juice and more egg whites. Weight training is recommended in the afternoon, when your body has had sufficient time to absorb the carbohydrates you've eaten, which will allow for maximal exertion in the gym. The next 3 meals occur every 2 hours and involve lots of lean protein and complex carbohydrates.
Who should try the Bodybuilding Diet?
If you aren't going to put in a lot of time at the gym, do not go on this diet. It is designed for active people with serious bulking up goals. Because of the heavy exercise load that accompanies this diet, you can also improvise certain foods as you see fit.

Essentially the Bodybuilding diet described above applies three main components of Bodybuilding -high protein, low carbs, and exercise- to the daily weight loss plan of the average person. If you want a more formal, organized plan you can try Atkins or South Beach. Each gives you the high protein/low carbs aspect but the exercise part isn't really incorporated (not that you can't exercise while on these diets, they just don't emphasize it). Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet goes against much of the establish advice of the previously held ideals in the health community in its acceptance of high fat and meat intake. Recent studies seem to show that followers lose weight at a greater rate than more traditional plans without serious effects on health. However, most people may have a very difficult time with they must fundamentally change the way they eat on a long-term basis, eliminating potatoes, pasta and sweets from their diets on a permanent basis.
South Beach Diet
This hugely popular diet promises diligent followers an initial weight loss of 8-13 pounds in the first two weeks. The emphasis is on avoiding highly processed carbohydrates, such as those found in baked goods, breads, snacks and soft drinks. Divided into three phases, the diet gradually reintroduces some initially forbidden foods. One premise of the diet is that low-fat prepared foods can be a bad idea except in the case of low-fat cheese, milk and yogurt. Exercise is not emphasized with this diet.
