Day Five

I weighed in this morning at 190.5 lbs! YEAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope to be under 190 by this weekend.  I am wasting away to nothing.  Total weight loss has been 2 1/2 lbs.  Calories yesterday were 1580, but my actual calories were a little under 1700.  This plan is so cool, when you are hungry, you eat free foods and basic foods and then walk away for a while.  By the way, I haven't broken a sweat and still losing weight.

 

No major hiccups yet, I did have that glass of wine.

Day 3

The interview went ok, let's wait and see.  I hit the scales tonight at 191.5, so another half lb. down, total of 1 1/2 lbs in 3 days.  My calories today were 1610, up from 1580 yesterday, and up from 1540 on Monday.  So far, so good.  The plan does seem to be working, today was the hardest day, but this plan certainly is the easiest diet I have ever been on.  I had to substitute one thing on my daily menu today and it cost me about 50 calories, but I made it through a rough spell after the interview.  I don't think it hurts me to be a little over eight times my body weight.  I certainly am seeing the results, so I will keep it going a little longer.

Day two

I weighed in at 192 lbs. this morning.  I also have more good news, I am going on a good interview tomorrow morning for a sales trainer at a call center.  Yeah, it isn’t traditional marketing, but I need to find something to re-engage myself.  I got a great motivational email, nice touch! I am supposed to get one each and every day for the next 90 days.  My weight loss total is now 1 lb. from my starting weight, so I have another 47 lbs. to go.  Anyway, here is the recap of my day yesterday.

 

Breakfast: oatmeal with cinnamon

Midmorning: banana and a protein bar

Lunch: turkey sandwich on lite bread, ½ cup chicken noodle soup, lite chips, pickle, apple

Day One!

Day one has been good so far.  I am so excited! I weighed in this morning and I have already lost half a pound, but that was because I was already learning what to eat and what not to eat.  Weighed in at 192.5 this morning.  The snacktime thing I thought was silly, I have now learned my lesson, I can now see the use, it is going to really help. 

 

I am planning to record everything the day after so you can get a feel for what I am eating each day.  I am also noticing that I am drinking more water than I thought.

T minus one and counting

Today I got a HUGE waterbottle.  I plan to fill it up with ice water as often as I can tomorrow and stick closely to my daily meal plan.  Last night I binged on my moms lasagna. 

 

Wish me luck, next stop, 145 lbs! and a size 8.

Bootcamp over, let's get started

Emily stayed home yesterday from school, she had the sniffles and a slight fever. I spent most of the day reviewing online want ads. 

 

On the other hand, I am excited about starting my diet on Monday.  I am confident I can do it.  I got to play with the works version of my food diary to get used to logging all my info in each and every meal.  From what Nicky said, I have to do this every time for the first six weeks and then I can do it mentally as a habit. 

 

Couple of things to comment on as I have finished my diet boot camp.  First, this program is extremely responsive and supportive.  They have replied quickly to every one of my requests so far, I really wasn’t expecting that, but it was a pleasant surprise.  I can see that they really care about what they do and want me to lose weight.  The second thing I want to add is about the plan itself, I like the ideas that seem to make it work.  I like the calorie counts everyday and then I get as many free foods as I want when I am hungry.    I like how I focus on my weight loss and diet first before trying to start exercising.  I like that I do not have to buy anything other than a kitchen scale.  I like how I can use this plan in my regular life and not have to go crazy.  I like that I get to eat so often (that is genius) and I can have anything I want that I like.  I like the meal plan, it is easy to follow and there isn’t anything that I don’t eat or have a problem with.

Ready to start

I finally feel prepared to start my diet.  The difference in this time versus other time is the amount of time in my preparation and how well I have equipped myself for this time.  In the book, it tells me to get a support team.  I have my diet coach Di, who has been really good about making sure that I keep in contact.  I missed sending in some information and she followed up after a day to make sure I get it in.  I have to send in my weekly food diary for her to review, I am pretty sure she is going to stay on me to stay under my calories. Nicky is my other support team member, she can help explain things and help me when I am feeling weak.  I also can call Di at the toll free number, but I am using that as my last resort.

I am a COW!

I have resorted to looking at monster.com to find something.  I am now looking at sales training and consumer marketing, ick.  I think if I get my foot in the door, I can move up the ladder quickly. Anyway, my networking lead didn’t work out so I am going to start from scratch. 

 

I am going to have one last gasp this weekend before I start my program in earnest next Monday.  I have noticed that even though I am not on the program yet, my little diet boot camp has already began to work, I am really becoming conscious of what I am eating and my bad habits.  I was completely unaware of how often I would grab whatever was available and would stick in my mouth even though I wasn’t even hungry.  In the ebook, it is called grazing and I was really a COW!  Yesterday I noticed that I had would walk by the kitchen cabinets where the Pringles are and would grab a handful ( had to make myself feel better after hitting rock bottom on the job search).  I did that three times before I realized it!  I wasn’t snacking, I was just eating out of boredom.  I also broke down and bought a digital kitchen scale and a bathroom scale yesterday to get ready for Monday.  I also called Nicky yesterday to tell her the news, she laughed and then cheered me up, she thinks that I am turning the corner.

Another Day in Diet Bootcamp

It seems the longer I am on this diet, the more I realize that I really was not aware of what I was eating.  I was not conscious at all of how many calories I was eating.  That is my take away this morning as I passed up the drive thru for a mcgriddle.

I read the book yesterday and I really hit home.  my copy has notes written all over it.  The best thing is that each chapter has 2 or 3 tips at the end and a summary, but it is a very quick and easy read.  I really connected with it and the personal story, but here is my summary of a few notes jotted down. The concept of free foods is genius.  Nicky was right on this one, free foods are definetly the way to go to lose weight without being hungry.  Free foods are basically vegetables that are cooked healthy.  If I eat a volume of them I will be too full to eat other crap.

Lessons Learned

Last night I checked my email.  Got a long email from the folks at diet smart on their little program and how to make it work.  basically, they want you to be accountable to them and send in your food diary (you download that when you get your access) and then you send it in every week for them to review. They also want you to post to their message boards to interact with other members for support.  I guess that will be ok since I can do it in my slippers and robe with my coffee.  They also wanted me to send them my starting weight, 193 lbs, and my target weight so they can put together a meal plan for me.  I also am curious about this snacktime idea, you sign up to get reminders on when to eat.  I am fat, I don't think I need a reminder on when to eat, I eat when I am hungry!
