This week has been better in regards to eating. (Except for the two margaritta's I had for cinco de mayo) I've also had some stress from work, which has caused me to  eat much bigger portion sizes at night while I relax. On top of this, I have not been able to work out as much this past week as normal.

My solution is to workout and eat healthy over the weekend to try and make up for the past week. But really this past week wasn't tooo bad considering my pre-dieting habits. It's hard to stay on track. That is why writing my diet & exercise habits down have been helpful.

I am also craving McDonald's, but am trying to limit my McD's to once per month.

ediets - just another Monday

Submitted by dietgirl on Mon, 05/01/2006 - 6:18pm.

Today I weighed in: 151 lbs.

That means I gained one lb last week. It could be that I am just retaining water, or that I after a good week of dieting I blew it on Chinese food I ate Sunday night. I really ate great this past week. The only thing way off my plan was the Chinese food - I tried to eat the healthy version without the sauce, etc... but I could have eaten to much of it for one sitting.

This is making me feel a little depressed. I'm working out and eating better, but have only lost 3 pounds in 5 weeks. My plan shows that I should have lost 10 lbs by now. How drastically different would things be if this was true. Literally, for every step up; I've taken one step back.

ediets and chocolate

Submitted by dietgirl on Fri, 04/28/2006 - 4:34pm.

Things have been good on ediets. It has been a positive experience. I don't feel restricted to certain foods only,  and it's a great lifestyle diet... something I can continue to do forever.  I feel very fortunate though that I like veggies and chicken. One thing, I do get to appease my coco-cravings with choclate protein shakes and protein bars (that taste pretty good, although these are both pricey items at the store) . Today I had a chocolate protein shake for breakfast at 8 am. Around 10 am I had a banana and then at 11 am I had a protein bar (chocolate & peanut butter). At noon I went to Atlanta Bread and had a mid-sized smoothie.

how long can it last?

Today's diet >

Breakfast: Slim fast chocolate & mint bar (only 120 calories) with 1 6 oz bottle of orange juice, (140 calories)

11am pre-Lunch: Ham sandwich with whole-wheat bread (estimating 150 calories) with a diet coke

1 pm Lunch: orange & 20 animal crackers (200 calories?)

Snack: mid-size chunk of leftover Easter candy (my co-worker made me do it!)

I also worked out today on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes. I am really on top of things today. After the elliptical I switched over to the stationary bike for 10 minutes and finished my workout with a 5 minute stretch and a 10 minute ab workout. Yahoo - feeling good.

Looks like I am not going to make it to work out today. That's a bummer because I think the workout is what has made me more successful throughout this experience.

Tonight my diet is requesting I eat the Honey Mustard Chicken, which sounds really good - but I think I am going to do the McDonalds menu, as I ended up not going through with that suggestion on Monday. Instead I made a small (5 oz) steak (with garlic seasoning) and asparagus for dinner... which was delicious! ) I am choosing McDonald's because (1) I need to go shopping for food and (2) my wonderful boyfriend is out of town, so I'll be eating alone and

Tuesday's diet report:

Breakfast: banana & hot chocolate

Lunch: the "health plate" (from office cafeteria) broccoli, celery, 1/2 cup chicken salad, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, half an orange and 8 oz bottle of water

Dinner: (at a baseball game) one hot dog (no toppings), a small bag of Doritos chips and a water. (no alcohol)
Snacks: 3 hersey kisses!
Workout: I exercised for 1 hour. The work out was with weights, focusing on my legs, butt and abs.

How I am feeling:
Tuesday I felt great. Really alot of energy and I didn't have any negative cravings - except for giving into the kisses temptation, but I feel like I handeled myself well.

I can eat ice cream?

Submitted by dietgirl on Mon, 04/24/2006 - 6:15pm.

Today I weighed-in at 150 lbs! That's incredible because four weeks ago I was four lbs heavier. I am starting to feel really good. This week my eating habits were okay. I have not perfected the plan yet, but I think I am adapting to the smaller portion sizes. I did have ice cream on Saturday night - but sticking to my portion size and exercising a few days last week helped the ice cream to not become a thing to bring me down.... I just cannot eat ice cream everyday, even if it's the only thing that I want.

This morning I was traveling, so I had to have a mocha coffee at 6am to wake me up. At 12:30 I had a chocolate protein shake and then at 1:30 pm I had a small sized Asian-chicken salad, left-over's from a meeting somewhere in the office and 1/2 cookie. I also drank a 8oz of water in the in-between times. I would rate my dieting today very poorly as I should not have had the cookie or the mocha - and should have replaced these things with fruit, yogurt - toast, etc... I am looking forward to a nice dinner, but my ediets plan has me dinning at McDonalds. Surprisingly ediets is allowing me to eat a hamburger and a small ice cream cone. AWESOME! this is kind of fun, but really won't be very filling. I'd rather eat two hamburgers and 20 chicken nuggets dipped in BBQ sauce.

Thursday on ediets.

Submitted by dietgirl on Thu, 04/20/2006 - 8:49pm.

So I have not really been following the recipes on ediets. Every meal is like a toss-up. With meetings and travel, lazieness and sporting events - it's hard to plan the meals one week; let alone HOURS, in advance.

Despite the struggle to plan out meals. Ediets does help me to stay aware of the caloric intake range I need to stay around each day. Today I had my regular protein shake, then followed it up at lunch with two soft tacos at an office meeting lunch. At 7pm I have yet to eat dinner, but I am starving and will probably eat... or overeat when I get home.

Because of all the bread I ate yesterday, and no exercise opportunites, I feel like I have gained a few lbs.

take me out to the ballgame - but don't let me eat ANYTHING!

Submitted by dietgirl on Thu, 04/20/2006 - 8:37pm.

The ball game was great - but the food was not. I will "ok" myself for the hot dog... but greasy chips and the nachos&chips I ate throughout the course of the evening... that was a bad, bad idea. Especially since the only thing of substance I had consumed earlier that day was a bag of light popcorn and graham crackers.  Needless to say, I hope that Thursday I can be BREAD and CHIP free!

Tues-Wednesday: Food intake update

Submitted by dietgirl on Thu, 04/20/2006 - 8:34pm.

Tuesday at lunch I went to my boot-camp workout class. I did a really hard legs and butt workout - which I am still sore from 24 hours later. During the long afternoon in the office I was very proud of myself for not snacking. The chocolate shake every morning really helps control my need for candy.

Last night for dinner I had a ham, Swiss & wheat 6" sub from Quiznos with lettuce & tomatoes. It was light and good. Later that night I had about 2 cups of light popcorn while watching TV. My eating habits since Monday have been excellent! This morning I had the chocolate protein shake and a banana. At 11am I guzzled a 8 oz Dasani water and ate my mid-afternoon snack - four reduced fat graham crackers... okay I had six.
