eDiets Week 8 Day 1 - The Occupational Hazard

While I have done pretty well in my ediets plan so far, the rest of this week will be a big challenge.  I will be out with clients to nice restaurants and events.  This has three major inherent problems: 1. the food is paid for by my company so there is no financial guilt on my part for having an extra beer or appetizer, 2. there is a considerable amount of ego involved in business which means that you can't be "the only guy drinking water," 3. the meetings take up my normal workout time at lunch, 4. I will generally be eating and drinking later into the night, 5.  my positive momentum can turn to guilt and require some comfort foods very easily if I don't handle it well.

What are some tricks of the trade to avoid such problems?  I am not sure what the answer is to this.  Send me some suggestions as this is easily the thing that will take me off course on my weight loss plan.  My eDiets plan is flexible enough to plan for this hypothetically, but as I have been saying throughout my diet plan, it's less about the plan than knowing how to push your own mental and emotional buttons to do the right thing and not fall off the horse totally.

Some suggestions to limit the "bad" work meetings are: 1. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your meeting/meals.  This will help you feel full, occupy your mind and your mouth with a zero calorie substance, and keep you hydrated (and less obnoxious in front of your boss : ) , 2. plan to have something that you really love - i.e. if you are going to steakhouse for dinner, don't have a Big Mac for lunch and rationalize it by saying that you will just have a salad for dinner - it's not gonna happen, 3. do have a salad with your dinner, but skip the croutons and fatty dressings - this will pass time during the meal and will give you some fiber.  Send me some or your "tricks of the trade-show diet blunders."
