Day 28: Darn that scale!

My scale lies.  It mistakenly says that I have gained a pound.  Argh!  I have been trying to eat more salads and drink lots of water with my meals and whenever I feel hungry.  I’m still hoping that my exercise classes will jump start my weight loss.  It is hard for me to eat lots of salad instead of a big cheeseburger and not see results.  I am a results-oriented person so if I can’t see even a small change, I have low motivation.

One difficulty I’m having with the diet is the eating slowly part.  I can accomplish this usually with dinner, but breakfast and lunches are quite difficult.  I have always been a very slow eater.  If we go out to eat, I will order an appetizer (cost less and smaller portion) since they bring it out before the main meal.  Even with this, I’m usually the last to be finished.  I’m not the type to wake up extra early to enjoy my breakfast- I like sleep more.  For lunch, I’m somewhat limited to how long I should be gone so I feel rushed when I eat.  I tend to get my food to-go so I can snack on it at my desk.
Our local news recently ran a story about the new Water Diet.  Basically, this guy lost a lot of weight by drinking a glass of water before his meal, a glass of water during the meal, and another glass of water after the meal.  I’m thinking about incorporating this into my diet.  It would decrease my portion size and I know I don’t drink enough water daily.
