Day 40: My hips don't lie

I began incorporating exercise into my Sonoma Diet plan.  This weekend, my famiy participated in the North Texas Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  We walked over 3 miles.  After mile 2, I started to feel it in my thighs.  This was actually a great sensation, and I imagined the fat burning away.  Nothing like fat burning for a good cause.  Right after the race, I went straight to my first bellydancing class.

Anybody who thinks bellydancing is merely shaking your hips is gravely mistaken.  I’ve danced for years, but this class kicked my butt (and hips and arms and legs).  I never felt tired during the class but later that night it hit me.  I was sitting watching the Mavericks game (we won the western conference!).  When I went to stand, I collapsed.  I couldn’t put any weight on my legs because my hips hurt so badly.  I had to stretch awhile before I could limp.  That class was amazing at really working your muscles.  I am very excited about my next class, but will definitely stretch before and after this class.  We have a great group of women ranging from skinny 18 year olds to above average weight middle-aged women.  It’s a fun activity where we can all participate, laugh, and have a great time.  This is key for me:  if I’m going to exercise, I need to be having fun.  This is perfect for me.
