Day 91: Autopilot Eating

I’ve found that I sometimes simply forget that I’m on the Sonoma Diet and eat things as if I’m on auto-pilot.  Maybe it’s the sleep deprivation, but it’s not until afterwards that I realize I ate an unhealthy food.  It is easier for me to eat healthier at home since we have cleaned out our pantry.  It’s when I’m away at other people’s homes, like this past weekend, that I find myself talking to friends and munching on a chocolate chip cookie.  The cookie isn’t even that good, but I’m eating it.  I caught myself once this weekend and threw away the remainder of the cookie.  A small start.

I really am trying to be more conscious about my eating.  I will pour out amounts in another cup instead of having an open box next to me.  When the cup is empty, I’m done.  No refilling.  I’ve also been increasing my water intake.  The bottled water at my office is 16.9 fl oz so I should ideally have 3-4 of these each day.  I’m averaging 3 a day but try to grab another on my way out and drink it on the ride home.  This also helps to combat cravings.
