Day 35: Finding Specific Motivation

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Wed, 05/31/2006 - 7:23pm.

I have found another way to limit portion sizes:  go to the dentist first thing in the morning.  Ouch!  My teeth still hurt this afternoon.  I’ve nibbled (ie: put in my mouth & let it disolve) on a few snacks here at the office, but I can hardly eat.  I haven’t even had a Dr. Pepper today since they cleaned my teeth this morning as well.  Surprisingly, I have felt alert even without my caffine.

Day 34: Shake what yo mamma gave ya!

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Wed, 05/31/2006 - 7:13pm.

Yea!  My dance workout DVD’s have arrived.  I briefly popped in the first DVD this weekend and half-heartedly followed the routine for only a few minutes.  I found that even after that short time, I felt more energetic and somewhat tired from the workout.  I can’t wait to find a block of time one night to start working out with these videos.  My first bellydancing class is this Saturday so I’m hoping to learn a few basics before the class begins.  I’m excited about building more exercise into my Sonoma Diet plan.

Day 30: Social Grazing

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Wed, 05/31/2006 - 7:11pm.

Today begins my 4 day weekend.  I’m looking forward to relaxing, swimming, and catching up on movies.  It’s also my birthday on Monday which means lots of cake and ice cream.  :)  I plan on having small servings, but I don’t believe cake is on the Sonoma Diet.  This got me thinking how most of our social occasions are defined by food.

Day 29: Tired, Unmotivated

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Thu, 05/25/2006 - 7:32pm.

I have been very tired lately even though I am sleeping the same amount of hours each night.  I’m not sure what is causing this.  The bad part is I know in my head that exercise will help me feel more alert, but I am so exhausted by the time I get home from work I just want to vegge on the couch all night.  It is a vicious cycle.

Day 28: Darn that scale!

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Wed, 05/24/2006 - 7:39pm.

My scale lies.  It mistakenly says that I have gained a pound.  Argh!  I have been trying to eat more salads and drink lots of water with my meals and whenever I feel hungry.  I’m still hoping that my exercise classes will jump start my weight loss.  It is hard for me to eat lots of salad instead of a big cheeseburger and not see results.  I am a results-oriented person so if I can’t see even a small change, I have low motivation.

Day 27- Personal Chef?

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Mon, 05/22/2006 - 7:44pm.

While I do enjoy the wide variet of foods on the Sonoma Diet, I find that it has a drawback.  For somebody who does not cook often or well, I feel like I need a personal chef to make all the suggested meals.  This really turns me off of the diet and makes it easier to cook something already in my pantry.  The recipes seem quite difficult to a novice chef who is not used to so much prep work.  Again, my idea of a “quick meal” does not include marinading for 4 hours in the instructions.

Day 24- Cheese Please!

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Mon, 05/22/2006 - 7:43pm.

More about me.  I really do love food, and I absolutely adore cheese.  I have some type of cheese at least once every day.  That is one food I could never give up.  So it was difficult when I read I had to limit dairy on my diet.  Let’s just say that I didn’t so much follow this part of the diet.  This anti-dairy phase of my diet also conflicted with the new commercials about how good it is for you to have 3 servings of dairy each day.

Day 23- Hungry or Thirsty?

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Thu, 05/18/2006 - 7:40pm.

One good tip I’ve received is that people can sometimes mistake thirst for hunger.  I think this might by what I do at times.  A few days ago, I grabbed a bottled water as I was leaving work.  In the car I felt “hungry” and started to think about dinner.  I made myself drink the entire bottle of water on the drive home and actually felt full when I walked in the door.  I didn’t eat dinner until two hours later.

Day 22- Trapped

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Wed, 05/17/2006 - 7:34pm.

The good news is that with my horrible off-diet eating habits, I haven’t gained weight.  The bad news is that I haven’t lost weight.  That scale sits there at 138 lbs.  This is 2 lbs towards my goal, but not as far as I thought I would be.  I’m not that concerned with the numbers.  One motto I’ve gone by is “It’s not how much you weigh.  It’s how much you look like you weigh.”

Day 20- Dancing away the belly

Submitted by BaylorBlondie on Mon, 05/15/2006 - 7:30pm.

What a weekend!  We went to see our friend graduate college and had two meals at my favorite Mexican restaurant with chips/salsa & my all-time favorite queso.  Let’s also throw in cheese pizza for lunch.  I feel like I need to step up my salad intake to make up for this weekend.  I did limit my chip/salsa intake like I said I would, but all the meals did set me back.  I honestly didn’t even look at my suggested Sonoma Diet meals for this weekend since I knew we would be out of town for graduation dinners.  I will get back on track today with healthier eating habits.
