DAY 7: THE GRADUATION TRIP

Going back to my Alma Mater is always most enjoyable. It is like watching a home movie, except you are living it again. Somehow, I still have friends there, and in a way I feel like I never left when I am visiting. This is all changing, since two graduations are the reason I was in town. Two of my best friends graduated, which is great if you are not thinking in selfish mode. Secretly I am not sure if I wanted them to graduate. As long as they were in school, Waco did not change. Free food, free drink, great happy hour, I lots of fun people to hang out with.

Now that they are leaving, I have come to realize that trips down to Waco will never be the same. I still have a few friends meandering through school, so I still have a place to stay, but the fun and craziness will not be the same. I guess you really do have to move on and live in the present or the future or something. Oh, by the way, “free food” is always great until you realize how much you ate in the name of “free food.”

Obviously I overindulged throughout the weekend, eating and drinking until my hearts content… maybe too content, but it was my mini vacation, so it was okay. Confession: chips and salsa are my downfall, and we ate at Ninfa’s twice in two days. I also love the margarita. This beverage is not on the diet, so I am going to attempt an abstinence policy. The zone diet allows a half a glass of red wine, which is great. I have always heard it was good for you, but never really knew why. This is a plus since I do enjoy the occasional drink or ten. Actually, I think this may curb my drinking, so that I can truly be faithful to my new lifestyle.
