DAY 9: RIGHT OR WRONG

According to the “Zone Diet,” 1 to 1 ½ pounds a week is considered a healthy weight loss plan. Now that is fine for someone who does not want to lose a terrible amount of weight, but what about those who want to lose substantial amounts? Granted, this diet is technically a lifestyle change that will guide you to health for the rest of your life. And that is fine, but I think some calculation should be done…

Before I go any farther, I want it to be clear that I am not speaking in disappointment. I am only examining the likely hood of individuals with varying personalities and goals, and whether or not the results they strive for can be achieved in their time parameters. First I will start with myself. My weight goal is between 15 to 20 pounds. If I follow the plan, there is an expectation of roughly between 4 to 6 pounds per month. According to the “Zone,” I can achieve my goal in a little over 4 months. This is actually a rather amazing feat, but what about the person attempting to lose 80 to 100 pounds? It could take that person up to 25 months to reach their target weight, and that is if they do not sway from the new lifestyle. Commitment to something for so long is an accomplishment in itself, but to continually perform would be a true turn around in behavior.

In retrospect, the diet does warn that this is not for someone looking for a diet with huge immediate results, but for someone who want to change their outlook on eating and its affect on ones body. With that in mind, I might conclude that while this might be rather difficult for some, those with a strong sense of self change or care could thoroughly thrive on the “Zone Diet.” It incorporates all the foods one enjoys to an extent, and teaches moderation and patience. Dang, I sold myself again
