DAY 18: TO CONQUER DINNER

Since my last entry, I got on the Zone Diet website to see if it had any helpful hints or tip for my eating out or dinner situation. To my surprise, there was a whole mini section devoted to this dilemma. Not only do they supply a list of generic hints, they go a step farther and list tips for specific cuisines. Some of the generic hints included eating a snack before going out to dinner to curb appetite; passing on the bread, since it is a carbohydrate; choosing between dessert or alcohol. Now don’t go crazy about the last one, these are only suggestions. Could anyone truly pass up a bottle…I mean glass… of good wine instead of the sinful Crème Brule. You really must have them both.

I mentioned in my previous entry that dining out for dinner always killed my diet, and any references made from a diet were usually rather generic and made for someone other than a guy in his 20’s. These Cuisine specific tips gave particular directions on how to order and what to and not to eat. Some of the suggestions were interesting, but not surprising. French cuisine won the healthiest, while the others had various aspects that were negative to dieting. The Zone Diet gives options around missing out on your favorite cuisines, which is definitely a plus. I enjoy this diet, because the website is designed to help to stay in the zone, while enjoying what you like. That is why the last component of the dining out section is a must read for anyone. They have reviewed a multitude of chain restaurants and given feedback on what you can order to stay in “The Zone.” This is so helpful, since this is the thorn in my side. I am looking forward to the addition of more restaurants that I frequent.
