DAY 20: WHAT IS EXERCISE?
The Zone Diet was somewhat appealing because of its stance on exercise. I already had my own idea of what type of exercise I wanted to do. My problem is that I have no motivation. The Zone Diet does not make exercise mandatory, so I really don’t make an attempt. I know this is not the smartest course of action, but I always seem to find something else to fill my time. I am not blaming the Zone Diet, since no mandatory exercise is required. I believe there should be a greater influence on exercise though. Eating healthy is pushed greatly, but exercise is placed on a back shelf.
I know the importance of getting the heart rate up and continuous movements. I am the workout junkie, in that I work out really hard for a while and then plateau. The sad workout I have settled for is stretching, some crunches and some pushups. It is not the most vigorous, but maybe every little bit counts. I keep telling myself I don’t have the time, but I need to make the time.
I have been thinking about taking up swimming. My apartment complex has a lap pool, and I enjoy swimming. I simply must make the decision that I will not allow myself to fall into a state of decay. I will have respect for my health and my body and my God who gave both to me. Not to get serious, but if everyone thought of themselves like this, wouldn’t we all be as healthy as possible?
