DAY 22: PROTEIN OVERLOAD

As you can tell from the title, I have a dilemma with protein.  My favorite foods are proteins.  Beef, chicken, cheese, nuts, and the list continues.  The Zone Diet promotes protein intake, but in limited amounts.  Basically a handful is the suggested meal amount.  This is definitely part of my problem.  I don’t necessarily over eat, but I probably eat more than a handful.  When it tastes so good, it is hard to stop, especially when you have a tasty sauce to dip it in.  The second part of my problem is that I like to eat a lot of proteins at one sitting.  Cheese compliments meats, as do eggs.  I tend to like fatty foods.  An unnamed source has swayed my addiction to cheeses, and now I eat five times as much of it as I used to.
One way the Zone Diet suggests dealing with this issue is substitutes.  One recommendation is to substitute tofu, which to be honest is probably not going to happen.  I am not sure I want to switch.  Plus, tofu seems to be a bit pricey, and since I enjoy the real thing so much, why would I pay a higher price for an imitation?  I might try it, but nothing beats a good steak.  Switching to non animal proteins is another suggestion, but I already abuse that one.  I am not sure what the answer for me is regarding this issue, but one thing I know I can do is turn to the sea and eat more fish.
