DAY 38: Portions, Portions, Portions!

The Zone Diet has a strict portion regiment for daily consumption.  Each meal includes a set allotment of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.  A man gets four blocks of all three for each meal.  It equals out to about four ounces of meat, four cups of a vegetable, a piece of fruit and the olive oil to cook the food with.
Yesterday, I was very strict about the portions of food I ate throughout the day.  I prepared all my meals last night, so I would not be tempted when I was hungry.  I started off with a simple reheated “Spanish omelet,” which filled me up since I am not a heavy breakfast eater.  I begin my work day rather early, so I ate a banana for a snack to keep my metabolism working.  I was excited about lunch, because I would be enjoying Fish with Sautéed Vegetables.  Lunch was delicious and very filling.  Lunch was eaten around one o clock so I did not eat dinner till I arrived home at five thirty.
Dinner was made the night before, so I reheated the Swiss Style Chicken and ate dinner promptly.  It was a little dry but not terrible.  I was definitely ready for a snack so I tried Egg Whites and Hummus.   This snack will not be eaten again, but at least I tried it.  I had succeeded eating the Zone Diet meal plan and suggested portions, and found my stomach content with the portions.  The snare is that if I don’t cook the night before, it is really hard for me to prepare the food correctly, without unneeded snacking and over eating.  I know that might sound weird, but I Live To Eat… or do I?
