DAY 118:Exercise Not Required

Submitted by Live to Eat or ... on Sun, 09/03/2006 - 9:36pm.

I just finished a mile and a half run that was pretty tough and tiring.  There were times when I really did not want to finish, but I pushed myself to do so, and I feel great.  Running is not my favorite past time, but I love the way I feel afterwards.  I feel invigorated and have a sense of accomplishment at the end of each run, but especially today.  I also dig the calories I burned.  Capping the run off like I usually do, I took a shower and ended it with freezing cold water for 30 seconds to a minute.  This is one of the best feelings.  The rest of the night is set up for a healthy dinner and whatever comes up.
All this leads up to my title.  I don’t understand the no exercise required tag that accompanies many diets.  Exercise is what keeps our bodies in tune and running smooth.  There is no substitute for the adrenaline or the way it sculpts and revitalizes your body.  I know the slogan is a marketing ploy to get people to try an “easy” diet, but I cannot agree.  A sensible exercise regime that accompanies a good diet not only speeds along the process, but add self esteem and joy.  I recommend a brisk jog to everyone.
