DAY 100: Japanese If You Please
Day 100 and I went out for Japanese food with my wife. I had read in the Zone Diet, that Japanese food can be a great fit for my eating style. I did not really remember what the Zone Diet had said about it, so I figured I would stick to sushi and a sashimi. We ordered an assortment platter, full of tuna, salmon, snapper and yellow tail full complimented with wasabi, ginger and light soy sauce.
DAY 97: Only for Martini's?
I was reading a Zone Diet daily email about olive oil based dressings today, and I had never thought of making my own dressings. After reading the ingredients, it does look a bit daunting, but I am going to try it out.
DAY 94: HUMMUS? yea or nay?
I like to entertain, and have parties. I have been this way since college. Even in high school, my Mom would always let me have friends over. In high school all you needed was a place to hang out where you were not bugged every second. In college, it started out being a place to go and chill and drink if you wanted. College ended as a place to drink and eat and contemplate serious topics as well as watch college football.
DAY 91:Morning Person?
I did something this morning that is very unlike me. I woke very early, drove to the nature preserve and commenced my running routine. I am not traditionally a morning person, which is why this is such an accomplishment for me. I went to sleep earlier than usual last night so I would not be sluggish throughout the day for lack of sleep.
I have found that the earlier you go to bed the easier it is to wake up early. It was a little difficult when I started running, I guess because of my body not used to running so quickly after waking up. One thing I can say is that I felt fit and alert all day. I felt as if I had an I.V. of monster energy drink supplying me with constant energy. Since I sit at a desk most of the day, it made my legs feel a lot stronger and my body felt invigorated.
DAY 88: Bull Corn
Sorry to upset, but this post is not about bull. It is about corn though. I was ready my daily Zone Diet email and it was about corn, and the Zone Diet’s view of the yellow vegetable. Corn is considered an “unfavorable carb…
DAY 84: Kicking the Habit
I know what this sounds like, but I wanted to give an update on a previous entry I made. A few entries ago I told you about my food addictions and that chips and salsa is my downfall. I literally ate the combination almost everyday either at home or at a restaurant.
DAY 81: : Dried Fruit
Lately, I have been introduced to dried fruit. I am not sure if it is recommended by the Zone Diet, but until I hear otherwise I am going to continue eating it. I believe they are relatively healthy, and they taste really good. I find myself reaching for dried fruit rather than any other snacks.
DAY 78: SUBSTITUTIONS
Throughout my life I have always had a food that some could say I was addicted to. It was not always the same thing, but has changed throughout my life. There have been three different foods and they are the most unhealthy items you can eat. Slowly I have phased two of the three out to about four or five times a year. This last one has not been that easy, but I am getting there.
DAY 76: EAT TO LIVE LONGER
I have never thought about it, but according to the Zone Diet, this eating lifestyle has health benefits other than losing weight. I knew about the idea of controlling insulin levels, but the benefits seem quite hefty. The Zone Diet states that its focus is to lower insulin levels, which can prevent
DAY 73:PEANUT BUTTER AND CELERY
Today I have reinstituted an old snack from my younger years. I love peanut butter and celery. I used to eat this all the time. Some people put raisins on this snack as well, but i stick with the two main ingredients. I figure the healthy aspect of the celery will counter balance the unhealthy aspects of the peanut butter. After my first snack that included this delicious pair, I decided that it must be healthy and good for me since it tasted so good.
